TiÂn (Cristian berro madero)
SUPERFICIALLY ECLECTIC. INTIMATELY CONNECTED. deeply rooted
From Buenos Aires to Montreal, Tiân shed the need for borders and approval. He doesn’t fit — he flows. He doesn’t follow — he lives. A soul stitched from many places, singing now on his own terms.
Raised on electric riffs and roots that run deep, this Argentine-Canadian musician refused to stick to the script — instead, he underwent a transformation, merging his soul with the primal heartbeat of the bombo legüero, the sacred drum of Argentine tradition.
His latest single, "Cambié mi Piel," is more than a song; it’s a manifesto. A visceral journey where the repiques (drumbeats) hammer through the chest like a second heartbeat. Tiân doesn’t just play music — he lives it, bleeds it, breathes it.
In his twenties, while living in Buenos Aires, Tiân made his mark with Cruz del Sur, a rock band where he first dared to weave Argentine chacarera rhythms and phrasing into driving riffs and dynamic guitar solos — a bold fusion of tradition and rebellion. After relocating to Montreal in his thirties, he explored new musical territories: Pampa Malón came first, a world music project that blended the soul of Argentine folklore with the improvisational spirit of Montreal’s jazz scene. Then came Cactus Weird Grooves, where he pushed boundaries even further, merging psychedelic rock, funk, chacareras, and reggae into an audacious power trio assault. Almar followed as a turning point. Until then, Tiân had been immersed in arrangements and textures — but with Almar, the poetry took the lead. Lyrics became the heartbeat.
Now, in his forties, Tiân is wide open — writing, singing, and collaborating with Latin and jazz artists like never before. It's a time of unleashed voices and wide-open souls, where for the first time, he stands at the very center of his own songs.
Superficially eclectic, intimately connected, deeply rooted — Tiân’s music is a living bridge between tradition and rebellion.
An artist of contrasts, Tiân balances the fire of the stage with the serenity of disciplines like yoga and Aikido, where non-violence and eternal circularity shape his art and his life. That duality — fury and calm, earth and air — is what makes his sound feel both intimate and expansive.
Performing regularly in Montreal, Tiân has brought his unique musical blend to a wide range of settings — from intimate venues and cultural spaces to theaters and radio appearances. His music, a magnetic fusion, isn’t something you can fully explain: you have to feel it.
And this is just the beginning. With new releases on the horizon, Tiân continues to challenge the maps, the labels, and the expectations.
The journey has only just begun. And if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that he’s not asking for permission.
